EARNING CEUS TO SUPPORT YOUR CERTIFICATION IS EASIER THAN YOU THINK!
There are many opportunities throughout the year to earn free or low cost CEUs for almost every AAPC certification. There are a few that generally require paid education (we're looking at you CIRCC), but the majority are available free of charge.
Local Chapter Meetings
Attending local chapter meetings is a great way to network with local coders and healthcare professionals. In the St. Louis chapter, there are CEUs involved in every meeting, usually at no charge! See our Meetings & Events page to register for our next meeting.

Local chapters commonly host seminars or workshops, providing 3-8 CEUs in one day for a small fee.
AAPC The Magazine (formerly Healthcare Business Monthly)
AAPC’s amazing monthly magazine offers the opportunity to take an online quiz after you’ve read it each month. That equates to 12 FREE CEUs per year! AAPC Webinars
AAPC provides 4 FREE webinars per year to its members. These vary in topic and are available on the website. https://www.aapc.com/membership/webinar.aspx

AAPC Events
AAPC hosts virtual workshops, virtual and live conferences & has a library of educational courses that can be purchased to earn CEU credits.

Medical Coding Geek releases a monthly list of free & low cost CEUs. There is no archive so it’s best to check every month to see what is available. There are some great learning opportunities out there!
Facebook Groups
Facebook hosts a few groups dedicated to free or low cost CEUs, where chapters and vendors post about CEU events:
CMEs (Continuing Medical Education)
AAPC will generally honor 1.0-for-1.0 CEUs for any event offering CME credit or AMA PRA Category 1 credit. A certificate of attendance or completion listing the total CMEs possible for the offering is necessary to show participation. AAPC-certified members claim only the actual hours that they were present during the education. One hour of instruction is worth one CEU.
Insurance Companies
Sign up to receive updates from the insurance companies your office interfaces with. They often offer free online education with CEUs.
AAPC Approved Vendors
AAPC approved vendors provide a lot of specialty specific education. Many of these CEUs are offered for a fee but the courses are generally a deep dive and provide information that is difficult to find for free.
