OFFICER ELECTIONS

Chapter officers are a very important part of every local chapter. Without members volunteering their time and leadership, local chapters would be unable to function. Chapter elections offer all members the opportunity to serve and encourage participation within the local chapter.

Elections are held annually in the month of October. Volunteers for the board should contact the chapter by early September to express interest in running.

Nominee Qualifications

  • Must reside in the St. Louis area, or within a reasonable vicinity thereof, to be readily accessible to members and other local chapter officers.
  • Must be able to attend all chapter meetings.
  • Must be a current AAPC member, in good standing.
  • Nominees for President, Vice President and Education must hold a current AAPC credential (even CPC-A). Secretary, Treasurer and Member Development nominees may be students working toward a credential.
  • Must currently be an active St. Louis chapter member or demonstrate commitment to regular attendance, if elected.
  • Must be assigned to the St. Louis chapter.
  • If elected, officers may not concurrently hold office in more than one AAPC local chapter, nor in another organization offering core coding credentials.
  • When a member is voted in as an officer and accepts that role in the local chapter, there must be a level of commitment and professionalism. Officers will not be allowed to resign from a chapter officer position and then start or hold a position as a new officer in another chapter, for the remainder of that year.
  • Must be able to serve a term of one calendar year, from January through December.

General Time Requirements

  • Board meetings - once per month, which may be virtual or in person. Officers vote on how to host these planning meetings. These meetings can be 30 -60 minutes, in general, but longer when leading up to larger events.
  • Chapter meetings - once per month, which may be virtual or in person. We typically host 4-6 in person events and 4-6 virtual events per calendar year. These are typically 60-120 minutes in length. Your admission is free, if a charge is applied to members.
  • Seminars - one virtual and one in person hosted by the chapter per year. These are generally 4-8 hours in length. Your admission is free.
  • Each role then has its own requirements which are typically 2-3 hours per month.
